A while back we posted our five favorite inside tips for an amazing Vegas experience without stacks of cash in your pocket. Since then, it’s proven to be one of our most popular articles, so we’re back with five more tips worth their weight in gold.
The Riviera Hotel & Casino is always running unbeatable promotions
As of publication, we have several special room rates (which, combined with our low price guarantee, mean you always get the best room rate at the Riviera), drink specials, free swag, free casino bonuses, and more. Visit our offers and promos to see what’s on tap right now.
You can multiply the savings by taking advantage of our discount promo programs. The Riviera eClub, for example, will send you exclusive promotions and even occasional freebies that no one else will even see. Similarly, you can join our Riviera Rewards program to snag complimentary swag, like free buffets, free tickets to The Riviera Comedy Club, a voucher to R Steak & Seafood, money for free slot play, and more.
Local museums provide hours of entertainment and education for free or at low cost.
The Bank of America Museums on Us® program provides free entry to several of our favorite local museums – the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, and Springs Preserve – the first weekend of each month. Additionally, virtually all local museums, including many that you won’t find elsewhere (like the Mob Museum), have special events from time to time that won’t strain your wallet.
Local festivals, fairs and celebrations
You might not realize it, but Vegas has a vibrant arts scene, and we celebrate it the first Friday of each month at our First Friday Art Celebration. It’s a not-to-be-missed experience that includes live bands, live performance “paintings,” local artists showing and selling their wares, food trucks, and special activities.
Vegas also hosts more than its fair share of fairs, cultural events, sports competitions, rodeos and more throughout the year. Check out the Las Vegas Review-Journal Fairs, Festivals and Events page: it highlights current and upcoming events that are frequently sponsored by local cities and counties and thus open to the public for pennies on the dollar.
Mind the time
You may have heard that the early bird gets the worm, and it’s true. If you time your activities right, you can claim substantial savings.
- Visit Vegas in the off season. Vegas is an entertainment mecca year-round, but you stand a better chance of scoring deals and lower room rates in August (when temperatures are at their highest) and in December after the NFR Rodeo (when the crowds die down).
- Dine at pricy restaurants at lunchtime to get the same quality cuisine at lower cost.
- Several local golf clubs offer special discounts for early-morning tee times.
- Many clubs only start charging a cover, or raise their fee, as crowds start to build up. Hitting the hip clubs earlier in the evening may save you money.
Dine at hole in the wall restaurants
You may have noticed from our past posts, like Best Pizza in Vegas and Best Burger in Vegas, that some of the most delicious and inventive food comes from some of the budget-friendliest sources. Sin City is blessed with an abundance of chefs who craft sinfully delicious dining options, so you have plentiful opportunities for memorable meals in Vegas that don’t require four-star restaurants whose tabs add up to four figures. And don’t forget our on-site restaurants, like R Steak & Seafood, which cook up delicious cuisine that you can pair with frequent special offers for our guests.
Bonus! Don’t forget the best tip of all: stay at the Riviera Hotel & Casino
If you want a classic, iconic Vegas experience, the Riviera is the place to stay in town. You have only to read about our storied history to learn why. It’s no wonder we’ve been the location of choice for so many Vegas-themed films.
