The
Riviera Hotel & Casino has unveiled its new expansion of the
hotel's Convention Center which will bring the total meeting space
to more than 150,000 square feet. The Convention Center addition,
completed on February 1 1999, doubled the size of the hotel's
meeting facilities.
"The construction of our new convention facility and room
renovations is just the start of a plan to push the Riviera into
the 21st century, while keeping its 'old Las Vegas' appeal,"
said Riviera CEO & Chairman of the Board William L. Westerman.
"We already have one of the finest properties in Las Vegas
and we are making it even better."
Each
of our spacious ballrooms in our convention/entertainment facility
can accommodate up to 5,000. Other features include a portable
stage, ceiling tech booth, direct street level access for trade
shows, and a 132-space underground parking facility with direct
elevator access.
"The Riviera has always been known
for its innovative and aggressive entertainment program and this
multi-purpose facility not only gives us the capabilities of hosting
larger conventions but the ability to bring top name entertainment,
concerts and special events to our guests," said President
& Chief Operating Officer Robert Vannucci.
Combined
with the existing convention facility, the Riviera will now provide
planners twin ballrooms offering 90,640 total square feet of meeting/exhibit
space, 23 breakout rooms with over 30,000 square feet of space,
12 sky box/meeting rooms with more than 12,000 square feet of
space, a 15,000 square foot pre-function area, two registration
desks with connecting offices and a 132-space underground parking
facility located directly below the new convention space. The
hotel also offers valet and complimentary self-parking in an enclosed
1,600-space covered parking garage. To compliment the new convention
facility, a 7,000 square foot banquet kitchen was included, and
the Riviera also offers a full service Business Center.
The Riviera is planning a $17 million refurbishment
of all guest rooms and suites. The plan, which is nearly completed,
calls for all 2,071 rooms to be completely renovated, including
furniture, lighting, artwork, ceramic tile, marble vanities,
bath
fixtures, bedding, wall covering, drapes and carpeting.
"The
result of our total renovation will be a brand new facility with
the spacious, comfortable feeling that is inherent in most older
properties," stated Riviera Vice President of Construction
John Franzoi. "We've incorporated a Mediterranean motif,
combining colors, furniture style and Behren's artwork on the
walls to reflect the image of the Riviera."
Through this exciting new construction project,
extensive renovations and systematic maintenance program the Riviera
Hotel & Casino is continually working to keep its place as
one of the world's finest facilities for conventions and meetings.
