While you’re in the southeast valley, stop by this sweet spot that draws about 2,000 visitors a day for self-guided tours. It’s educational to learn about the birthplace of such delights as M&Ms, Milky Way, Three Musketeers, Snickers and Mars. And you’ll please your palate with samples of candy and ice cream. Also enjoy a 2.5-acre garden with 350 species of rare cacti. Like the cranberry folks up the road, it’s free. So what’s not to like? Hours are 8:30 AM to 7 PM daily.

Las Vegas and neighboring Utah are among the biggest consumers of marshmallows in the country. So why not make ’em here? Watch how corn starch and other polysyllabic ingredients are rolled smooth, cut into shapes, bounced in a drum and boxed into cartons. And then take a taste. Admission is free, and doors are open 9 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday and 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM on weekends.

Clowning around is business as usual at this factory. Open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM for free tours, the World of Clowns manufactures more than 50,000 ceramic and pewter statuettes annually. Informative exhibits display the history of the craft.
