Ah, wedding planning…some people thrive on it. Others quickly grow tired of the who-sits-where ju-jitsu, of whether or not to invite the bride’s drunken Uncle Morty, and of the endlessly skyrocketing prices for everything from corsages to dresses to wine.
We invite you, beleaguered soul, to throw out the lists, fire the wedding planner, and grab your honey for a classic Las Vegas elopement. Just think of the positives:
- No in-laws, unless you really want them there
- Fun! And you get to stay at the Riviera Hotel afterwards! Our sinfully delicious food, fantastic gaming and festive shows will give you an unforgettable experience. http://rivierahotel.com/las-vegas-meetings-conventions/weddings-ceremonies/
Just so you know, Nevada makes it easy to get married:
- There’s no waiting period.
- There’s no blood test requirement.
- You have to be 18 or older (proven by a photo ID).
- The Nevada State marriage license itself costs only $60. Just head out to the Marriage Bureau at 201 Clark Street at 3rd Street. They’re open until midnight, seven days a week—how’s that for convenient? [Questions? Call them at (702) 671-0600.]
- Divorced? It’s OK, as of the date of this writing, if you don’t have the certificate. You do need to know the month, year, city and state in which the divorce was finalized. (And yes, finalized it must be.)
No excuses left. (One hint: whatever you choose, do set aside a bit of cash for limo driver and minister fees/tips.)
Here, in no particular order, are four of our favorite wedding chapels in Sin City:

The Elvis Chapel
727-C South 9th Street
Las Vegas, NV 89101
Classic Vegas cheese. So glamorous. So kitschy. So unforgettable and FUN!
This is one of the more popular wedding venues, so if you know in advance of your visit that you’ll be tying the knot, try to book the ceremony ahead of time. You can bring up to 30 guests, can rent a dress and/or tux with their help, and get hitched with the King’s help. Sample packages include:
Elvis Memories – $195
Complimentary limo ride for up to six people. Elvis will sing two songs of his choice. The bride gets a rose, there will be special “Elvis vows”, and Elvis will walk the bride down the aisle. Click on the web site for more details.
Elvis Hound Dog — $275
With this package, you get three songs instead of two, a three-rose bouquet, and “Elvis” will be in charge of the service. You also get a copy of Elvis and Pricilla’s marriage certificate. Click for more details.
There’s also an Elvis Aloha Package ($425) that includes a hula girl, an Elvis Show Girl Package ($425) that includes a show girl, an Elvis and Marilyn Package ($425) that includes Marilyn singing four songs with Elvis, and many more options. Check ’em out, and practice your hip swivel.
Viva Las Vegas Chapel
1205 Las Vegas Blvd South
Las Vegas, NV 89104
Our favorite chapel for our gay and lesbian friends: while the State of Nevada does not recognize marriage equality, the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel welcomes any loving couple – gay or straight – to participate in traditional, Elvis or themed commitment ceremony packages. And that’s in addition to an already huge menu of traditional and unusual themed weddings!
Speaking of which, their quirky, fabulous themes include:
- The Alice Cooper
- Dracula’s Tomb
- Harley Ride down the Aisle
- And many more!
The chapel also includes nifty and romantic touches such as an optional, post-ceremonial helicopter flight over the Las Vegas strip (as part of the $699.00 “Apollo” ceremony) or even over the Grand Canyon (as part of the $1,199.00 “Chariot of Fire” wedding).
On a budget? The chapel offers some reasonably priced packages, plus coupons: click on their site for more information. And make sure to book your honeymoon room at the Riviera!
Little White Wedding Chapel
1301 Las Vegas Blvd South
Las Vegas, NV 89114
In too much of a hurry to stop and stand? This is your place. It’s also good for those who love Vegas’s version of glamour. Possibly the cutest, most charming, most famous Vegas wedding venue, the Little White Wedding Chapel isn’t as little as it seems: you’ve got no fewer than five chapels to choose from:
- The Little White Wedding Chapel:
Cozy, adorable, and filled with flowers and candles, this is a good one for romantics and traditionalists…well, traditionalists who don’t mind eloping in Vegas!
- Chapel of Promises
With red carpets, velvet chaises, candelabras and white trim, the Chapel of Promises fits a sizeable number of guests and lends a kitschy-but-elegant quality to the ceremonies performed within. For Liberace fans.
- Chapel L’Amour
This chapel picks up where the Promises one leaves off, adding garlands and white Ionic columns to the mix. A good choice for those bringing guests: this chapel seats up to 30.
- Crystal Chapel
For those bringing a dozen or so guests, this Victorian chapel might be just the trick. Marry under a Vegas-style chandelier. Plush and gilded, just like the others, this chapel feels like a small theater.
- The Tunnel of Love Drive Thru
Yes! It really is a drive-thru wedding chapel. Not as quick-n-dirty as the idea might first seem, the drive-thru came about when a handicapped couple had trouble making their way from their car to the traditional chapel. Now it’s a downright Vegas phenomenon.
No matter which chapel you choose, know that they’ve got you covered, as this place is a one-stop shop: they’ve got gowns, tuxedos, and even flowers right there on site! Just show up and bring your license and some love. They’ll take care of the rest.
Happy Wedding! Make sure to let us pamper you after your ceremony.
